The Carp

A new 60-minute chamber operetta by composer Martin Brody, with a libretto by art historian Dario Gamboni, based on a 2003 news story of a carp said to have spoken before its slaughter at a fish market. Scored for four singers and five instrumentalists, the piece moves between opera and cantata, with a clarinet standing in for the voice of the fish. The cast includes soprano Stephanie Lamprea, baritone Nathan Halbur, tenor Samuel Rosner, and baritone Corey Gaudreau, conducted by Stratis Minakakis.
